Father Christmas Cup

The Father Christmas Cup is held each year around Christmas time to help local families who have lost a parent this year. The event is based on an annual soccer tournament consisting of local soccer players, many of whom have ties to the beneficiary families. The Father Christmas Cup originated from the ideas of the 1914 WWI Christmas truce where German and English soldiers stopped fighting and played a soccer match in the middle of no man’s land. The Father Christmas Cup uses as its fundamental basis this powerful depiction of hope for peace and civility and regard for one’s fellow man.
