Every year Silverbacks Park adopts baby gorillas to help secure that species on the planet. On April 22 we celebrate Earth Day, and we have an important question to ask… will you partner with us to save gorillas and the rich biodiversity of their forest homes? Because we know that we can’t do it alone.
It is estimated that ONE MILLION species are currently at risk of extinction, including gorillas! While mountain gorilla numbers are slowly rebounding due to intensive boots-on-the-ground efforts, with just over 1,000 remaining on the planet, they are still one of the world’s most at-risk species. Sadly, the population of their close cousin, the Grauer’s gorillas, has declined by more than 60% over the last two decades and without immediate action, they will not recover.
The Congo Basin, the only place where Grauer’s gorillas are found, is also home to many other endangered animals, such as the African forest elephant, chimpanzee and giant pangolin – all of which play a key role in keeping their ecosystem healthy and many of which are only found in the rainforests of this area.
Join us in saving gorillas and the biodiversity that share their forest home by making a gift today. Extinction isn’t reversible, but when we work together, it is preventable.
Click here to make a gift today and you can ensure a future for gorillas, their home and, ultimately, our home.
